84% of teachers say students forget or “lose” skills, knowledge, or grade-level equivalency over the summer. Over time, summer learning loss can really add up: by the end of 6th grade, those who have lost reading skills are on average 2 years behind their peers. This summer slide is especially critical for those children without access to summer learning programs, who are more likely to spend summers on the couch in front of a television instead of going to summer camp or engaging in educational activities with their parents.
For this reason, extending the school year has become the issue du jour for many prominent education experts. “There’s a small positive effect on kids when they go to school year-round and a much larger effect on students who are struggling,” says Harris Cooper, Ph.D., chair of the psychology and neuroscience department at Duke University and a summer-learning expert.
SMARTS Summer Bridge Program helps keep students sharp, all summer long. Summer Bridge is a program designed to ease kids transition to the next grade level. It strengthens the math, reading writing skills learnt in the previous grades and keep adding on new skills they need to succeed in the next grade.
At SMARTS Club we provide learning mixed with academic and cognitive resources to challenge your kids throughout the summer. We have a ten week summer program to get your kids ready for next grade in Math, Critical reading, Creative writing and science. All the subject curricula are aligned to TEKS and National Standards of Instruction After a review of previous grade, we move on to teaching next grade level curriculum.
At SMARTS Club we help bring out the creativity in your child!
