Summer Camps

The camp schedule is structured, while at the same time filled with fun to provide quality learning using a variety of activities. We make every effort to group friends together, but groupings within the programs are dependent on the camper’s ability and skill level for programs such as Chess or Robotics. Academic programs are based on grade level. Teaching methods and lessons are specific to each grade, but the main focus is the same: present the lesson in a fun, and entertaining way to keep your child engaged and interested in learning. All necessary material is provided except for the technology or programming workshops where we request kid to bring their laptops from home to maximize benefit from hands-on experience. There are no expectations (except for a good behavior) placed upon the campers, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. A typical day in our program will include instruction, activities and, of course, an opportunity to try their new skills in the class for example practice worksheets for academic programs, playing and debating with opponents in chess and public speaking classes, etc. There will be no homework given.

Snacks will be provided at the camp during morning and afternoons; however campers are required to bring lunch from home or otherwise have it delivered by lunch time. If your child has specific allergies you will be given the opportunity to describe these allergies on the forms during registration. Since peanut allergies are wide-spread, we attempt to purchase snacks that do not contain nut products. However if your child has an extremely severe allergy of any kind, we recommend that they bring their own snacks to camp.

We do not anticipate any disciplinary problems during the camp, although Camp Code of Conduct is provided to set the standard. If a disciplinary problem arises within the camp, the camper will receive one warning and a phone call to their parents. If a second disciplinary problem arises, that camper may be expelled from the camp without any financial credit. If a camper’s behavior becomes so severe or endangers other campers, immediate expulsion from camp without warnings, or financial credit be necessary.

Summer Camp staff is looking forward to providing your child with a fun, memorable and safe summer camp experience. Each camper has a responsibility to act in a way that assures a positive experience for all. All campers are required to follow Behavior Guidelines.

Campers shall be responsible for their words and actions.
Campers shall be respectful of others.
Campers shall follow directions from staff members.
Campers shall leave all electronic devices at home such as iPads, hand held computer games, and cell phones. (A parent/guardian must seek permission from the camp director in order for the camper to be able to carry a cell phone for emergencies).

Endangering the health and safety of themselves, other campers, and/or staff.
Stealing, damaging, or failing to care for company or personal property.
Continual disruption of the program.
Refusal to follow the behavior guidelines.
Using profanity or inappropriate language or displaying clothing or other personal items with offensive content.
Bullying or acts of aggression or violence.

Counselor will redirect the camper to a more appropriate behavior.
The camper will be reminded of the behavior guidelines.
If the behavior persists, staff will discuss the problem with a parent/guardian.
The staff will document the situation. The written documents will include what the behavior problem is, what provoked the problem, and the corrective action taken.
If the problem persists to the point where a second phone call becomes necessary, the Camp Director may find it necessary to have the camper picked up early from camp.
If a camper's behavior at any time threatens the immediate safety of him/her, other campers, or staff, the parent/guardian will be notified and expected to pick-up the child immediately.
Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in the removal from the program and/or additional fees. There will be no refunds given for campers who are removed from the program due to violations of the Code of Conduct.

Summer camp offers a great opportunity to learn about and navigate social situations while not being constantly connected to and immersed within a digital/virtual world. Not only are cell phones and other electronics expensive and can get stolen or lost, but also their usage can interfere with and even sabotage a child’s overall experience at camp. A camper that spends so much time immersed in technology or communications may do so at the expense of getting to know fellow campers and counselors. Campers shall leave all electronic devices at home such as iPads, Kindle tablets, hand held video games, and cell phones unless needed for any technology class. A parent/guardian must seek permission from the camp director in order for the camper to be able to carry a cell phone for emergencies. Parents will be given notice if campers needed to bring their laptops for engineering or technology class on if enrolled.

Our staff is comprised of the best hand-picked children’s instructors for example we have experienced chess coaches with high USCF rating and are tournament directors and our computer enrichment and academic staff is specifically trained to teach the software and curriculum. The camp counselors undergo a background check and rigorous training.

A full refund minus the registration fee and a $100 service fee is charged if cancellation request is received 15 days before camp. After this, refunds will not be given. If a child is sick and is unable to attend the camp, a doctor’s note is required for a refund minus the registration and service fee. Switching sessions or camps is permitted based on availability and there will be a $75 charge fee assessed for any change.

We reserve the right to cancel camps that do not meet the minimum enrollment requirement. Should this occur, every attempt will be made to move students to a similar camp; or full refund will be offered.
